This week we discussed Student Startups: Trends, Opportunities, and Challenges with Mr. Ankur Jain. Ankur is the Founder of Hostel Fund, A Startup Fund for Students by Students powered by investors and industry experts (www.hostel.fund). He is also a VC at SenseAI Ventures, India’s leading VC fund backing AI startups. He is also a member of the National Startup Council of India (CII). Apart from all of these, he is an advisor at multiple startups and a mentor @ Founders Institute.
Summarizing the discussion:-
Student’s visibility is limited in terms of exposure but one should use college education in a constructive way to build networks and validate the idea by interacting as much as possible.
Right team, market, and evaluation matters for every start-up for it to get funding.
One should start selling the idea before building it by creating various hypothesis and testing it out with the consumers rather than rushing with the idea which at the end is forced to shut down.
You can never make a business out of plan B.
